November 2011 News

We are certainly barreling through Autumn and heading for Thanksgiving. We hope you enjoyed Halloween.

The Northeast was hit by an unseasonable “ton of snow” last week, which seems to coincide with the current inconsistencies reflected in Executive Search. That said, the results announced yesterday from the Association of Executive Search Consultants, show revenues only slightly lower than last year: “Third quarter data shows that despite economic turbulence and a quarter-on-quarter reduction in the number of new executive searches started (-8.1%), overall revenue levels have been sustained thereby continuing the momentum of the past two years which has returned the industry close to its all time revenue high of 2008.

At Bonell Ryan we have had a very good year with searches, continuing in:

  • New Business Development
  • Marketing
  • Operations
  • Credit Risk
  • Communications

Industries within which we specialize, as you likely know, are retail banking, payments and healthcare. Recently, we’ve taken on dynamic new work in the solar energy field, despite it’s recent dip.

I am often asked what current issues confront us during assignments. Of late, we are finding across the board that:

  • Candidates are reluctant to relocate
  • Candidates are anxious about their security and their employer’s stability
  • Candidates and clients are working tremendous hours and often not feeling they have enough support
  • Clients commence a search but then place the search “on hold”

As always, see the below articles for your enjoyment - the “Angel and the Monster” is particularly curious (Lady Gaga, Richard Branson and Mother Teresa in the same article — who knew!!).

All the best for now, I always like hearing from you so be in touch.

Thanks

Deb
